Ozark Mountain Lemonade

“The beverage industry is a cut-throat industry that we take head-on every day. We never expected to be in this type of business, but now we love it.”

Tina: “This recipe started in our kitchen as a wine spritzer. Our children always wanted to try it because it was pretty and pink. On a trip to the ‘happiest place on earth’, we decided that this was something that is unique to the market and started brainstorming. Ozark Mountain Bottleworks was born.”

Marlena: “The project was to match Tina’s home recipe of lemonade. The original recipe included lemon juice, but since we needed to develop a soda that could be produced commercially, we had to remove the juice portion and replace it with flavor. It is not always easy to recreate the mouth feel and taste that juice incorporates.”

“The challenge was to recreate Tina’s recipe without using actual juice.”

Tina: “After interviewing a number of different flavor houses, we decided that Flavorman was the one for us. The initial call made us feel comfortable to develop OZMB’s flavors and brand. We were able to understand the development process and we were eager to get started.”

As you get far enough into the revision process you know what you are looking for. The most interesting part of OZMB’s tastings was sampling soda warm and without carbonation. We were educated that this the best way to taste the actual flavor of the soda. As you sample the three or four variations you will be able to recognize the flavor difference immediately.”

“Our biggest challenge was the sugar content, which we were able to overcome in one very short visit to the Flavorman Lab.”

Marlena: “Tina came in and worked with me in the lab to get the taste just right. She was more than willing to come to Flavorman to get things exactly where they needed to be.”

Tina: “The revisions were quick for some flavors, and for others we worked for months to get them right.”

Marlena: “Tina was fun to work with, and the sodas were fun as well. It is great to see someone who has great ambition and drive to create her own line of products.”

Tina: “OZMB is growing daily. We have developed and market seven flavors, all of which are unique to our brand. If you believe in your product, it will be successful. Talk to people in the industry, they will help you bridge the gaps of knowledge. Flavorman is an amazing source of industry knowledge and know how.”
