Flavorman & Moonshine University Win ABTV Best Place to Work Award

Published on:

April 24, 2019

Flavorman & Moonshine University is a 35-person business in Louisville, Kentucky that brings to life the beverage dreams of entrepreneurs, artisan craft producers, and multi-national companies alike. What began as a one-man consulting firm in the early 1990s has grown into an international, full-service beverage development company providing both large and small clients with the expertise they need to bring a beverage to market. For the past 27 years, Flavorman has not only provided expertise for every beverage imaginable, but it has also invigorated and changed what the world is drinking today.

In February 2019, Flavorman & Moonshine University was nominated as a finalist for The Best Place to Work Award presented by American Business Television and Interise. In April, Flavorman & Moonshine University received the Best Place to Work Award for creating an exceptional work environment, developing a strong company culture, and prioritizing employee benefits. As a company, we are grateful to be endowed such a high honor and reflect on the individual experiences that make Flavorman & Moonshine University such an empowering space, an inclusive establishment, and a voice of the community.

"Flavorman & Moonshine University is an amazing place to work due to the opportunities and experiences it offers everyone who comes. Only at Flavorman/Moonshine University would I have the opportunity to combine travel and chemistry together as a career. I have the opportunity to travel the world visiting contract manufacturers and working with our clients to help make their dreams come true right before their own eyes. Each day brings new challenges and problems that need to be solved and I have been given the opportunity to help find a solution to those problems," explains Beverage Quality Manager, Matt Hurst.

Knowing that he would need a creative and self-driven team, CEO Dave Dafoe staffed Flavorman & Moonshine University with individuals who "are smarter than me" and relies heavily on their expertise as his company develops. As Flavorman & Moonshine University continue to grow and add more entities to its beverage campus, Dave understands how a strong company culture can energize employees to work hard and enjoy the work they are doing.

In the words of Flavorman's Relationship Architect Matt Madden, "Flavorman believes in empowering people to be their best selves. Promoting personal growth, wellness, and self-esteem is important to Dave Dafoe. He understands that if an employee is feeling good about themselves, their family, their place in the company, then their productivity, commitment and loyalty to Flavorman & Moonshine University will be second-to-none."

As the Founder/CEO of a small company, Dave understands how easy it can be to lose sight of the big picture and vision of the company. Dave has been clear about upholding these ideals with Flavorman & Moonshine University. In order to focus on implementing his vision for marketing Flavorman & Moonshine University, Dave renovated a local building and placed a creative team in this new space. This space allows Flavorman & Moonshine University employees to express their ideas for company growth, provides for a communal space to gather, and creates a positive work atmosphere for both new and old ideas to become flavorful realities.

Flavorman & Moonshine University want to see employees initiate new programs and be creative in their work environment. Flavorman & Moonshine University are committed to innovation, growth, empowerment — the reasons we are the Best Place to Work.
